We came second!

The L4 co-captains had an interesting run up to this game : 15+ players and decisions to be made on Monday then, by Saturday at 12 oclock, 11 players and one of those without her gum shield!! Kate and Sarah are nothing if not flexible and resourceful - The team arrived at Dorcan school with 12 players and fully equipped with all necessary equipment!!
We all looked very bright and cheerful in the purple strip with multi coloured socks. Maybe our play was not quite so snazzy at first!
The team failed to work as a unit initially but can be partly excused as we were a very new mix. It was great to welcome Heather Muir back and we really appreciate a naturally attacking player helping us out and managing the sweeper role so effectively. Catie Norbury was called in at the last minute and warmed to an unaccustomed left midfield role.
North Wilts had one very strong and determined midfield player who caused Cirencester problems from the outset and it was due to her driving forward and putting in a great cross that North Wilts got the opening goal.
Cirencester were regularly thwarted, as they approached their attacking "D", by an ex player. We taught Tash Morley too well! We also should have used more timely passes to beat her. However, Becca in her usual fashion scented a goal before Half Time and forged through to equalise.
The second half saw a more cohesive Cirencester but an even more determined North Wilts. Both teams had scoring opportunities; both keepers pulled off some great saves. It was North Wilts who broke the stalemate.
Play continued end to end but the score remained 2-1 to the home side.
Dame of the Game honours were shared between Heather and Caroline McKemey for her sterling efforts in goal. Dippy votes were almost unanimous as Heather shocked the opposition by bouncing into their changing room and announcing it was great to be back before she noticed they were not us!!

Not our greatest performance perhaps but still a good team effort. and an enjoyable game. We had also had a very enjoyable evening on the Friday. Thanks Caroline for hosting a super get-together - good food, good company and great fun playing charades, Taboo and the like.

and putting in the perfect pass
