A great all round performance, Ciren started slowly with a few new faces again this week getting used to the team formation.
Despite the early pressure Ciren's defence held firm and took the lead midway through the first half, a nicely worked move down the right flank ended with the keeper making a save from JT, only for Julian Shirnia to pop up and squeeze the ball in to the near corner. Wotton equalised shortly after from a penalty corner - a straight strike finding a gap past Woody's right.
At this point Ciren stepped up a gear, finding the freedom to pass and move through the Wotton defence. Goals from Robin Aird - a smartly struck shot from the edge of the circle beating the GK, from John Tasker and from Dave Hall meant a 4-1 lead at the break.
Straight from the re-start, Dave Hall lifted the ball forward to find Robin Aird who took one touch to steady the ball in the air, before lifting it past the advancing GK.
As the second half progressed, Ciren lost their shape with substitutions and the game evened out again, Yellow cards for Andre Muller and Dave Hall ensued and Woody made a terrific Penalty Flick save towards the end.
5-1 it ended, JT gathering the DOD award for his clean sheet comments at half time and MOM went to Robin Aird for his 2 goals on his return after several years off.
