Under 16 Phoenix went to two locations in Gloucester, two because the first location was wrong (sorry!). Undeterred Cirencester quickly gained the ascendancy and from an early right wing cross Sophie applied the decisive finish. The rest of the first half continued in the same vein with Phoenix usually exploiting the space well but coming up against an inspired keeper and umpire. We did score a second before half time with Molly finishing expertly from close range. Our defence was assured led by Emily and Alice R .

With the game in a relatively comfortable position we made some wholesale changes at half time to challenge the players to perform in different playing positions. Poppy and Liv D went to defence and exploited the additional space well, further forward Miya on the left wing enjoyed successful canters with good injections in to the D. Gloucester did enjoy slightly more of the play on occasions in the second half but Tabitha held firm in goal to secure the 'clean sheet' for the team. We continued to press and Tilly scored two thunderbolts to make the final score 4-0 and more reflective of events.

Well played everybody end especially those who were given an experimental role including Emily who spent the last ten minutes in attack for what would have been a popular goal for one of our defensive stalwarts.

It has been a long season with some cancellations due to inclement weather or other far less organised oppositions but on that beautiful morning earlier in March the players showed what they are made of. One last game against Ciren Ladies combination and that's it for the year 11s with some of them joining us when they only needed two hands to count their age; we thank all the Year 11 players and their parents who have shared the journey! Let's finish with a bang and hopefully see many of you playing for Ciren ladies in future where plenty of their friends already play.
