The men’s section got off to a cracking start last Wednesday when a pulsating game was played at Deer Park School between two combined first and second team elevens. Well done to Jamie Blackburn and Will Harrison for fielding two very competitive teams.
The game was full of goal-mouth incidents with end to end flowing hockey which even included a penalty flick save from Paul Woody Franklin.
The club welcomed back some new old faces, some new faces and a few season campaigners of the club.
The game was officiated by Umpires John Tasker and Mike Hobday and although the final score was not clear the keenly contested game resulted in a narrow victory for the pink bib team.
Many players showed tired legs towards the end of the game but this might be expected at this stage of the season and will of course improve in September as the amount of Hockey increases.
With a number of new faces in attendance and other aspiring youngsters showing good promise selection is likely to be keenly contested in the early stages of the season.
Mens Training re-commences this Tuesday starting at 7pm at Deer Park School - see you there!!
