Cirencester U12 Girls Prove Their Class

Top-Three Finish at West of England Finals!

Fresh from their triumphant County Cup win in March, the Cirencester U12 Girls A Team took to the field at the West of England Finals on 19th April, ready to test themselves against the very best clubs across the region. The competition was fierce, with the top 75 teams narrowed down to a final line up of elite sides.

The weather couldn’t have been better — clear skies and blazing sunshine — though the heat made for an exhausting day. Despite the conditions, the girls displayed brilliant skill and determination throughout the pool stages. They played six matches, winning five convincingly without conceding a single goal. Their only setback came in a narrow defeat to Clifton Robinsons in the final pool game, leaving them second in their group and drawing a tough semi-final against ISCA.

In the semi-final, Cirencester fought valiantly, holding ISCA to 0–0 for much of the game before conceding two late goals in quick succession. Though disappointed to miss out on a place in the final, the girls’ resilience shone through. In the third and fourth place playoff against Westbury, their determination was clear. They regrouped brilliantly, created some excellent attacking play, and scored a beautifully worked goal to seal victory and secure a well-deserved 3rd place finish.

The final standings saw Clifton Robinsons claim the title, ISCA finish runners-up, and Cirencester proudly take 3rd — an incredible performance and a testament to the team’s skill, spirit, and teamwork.

To win their County Cup and then finish third in the entire West of England — out of approximately 75 teams — is an outstanding achievement. Every player played their part, and they should be immensely proud.

Well done, girls. What a season!
