Under 16 Girls Win Avon League

Playing in bright sunshine on the Kingswood School Upper pitch overlooking Bath, the Under 16 Girls performed well to beat City of Bath 5-0 on Sunday and reclaim the Avon League title.
The home crowd's enthusiasm was muted after 6 minutes when Lizzie deflected a strike from Megan to settle the team with a second following shortly afterwards from Caitlin. Cirencester remained largely in control for the remainder of the first half and showed great empathy for the young umpires both officiating in their first match.
Leading 3-0 at half time, we changed some positions and the team initially lacked some fluency, however Jess on the left offered the missing balance and we were able to reassert our superiority. City of Bath did pose some problems on the break in the second half although the defenders Hannah, Mae and Caitlin largely kept the opponent out of our D. Julia and Megan added to the score line midway through the second half with a couple of fluent strikes.
Congratulations to the large squad who have represented the Under 16s in the Avon League this season, a victory largely founded on some hard fought results before Christmas. It would be great to add the West League title next month if we can!
