Cirencester overcame a spirited Wotton team to secure their place at the West Finals in April. Despite knowing a draw would suffice, the team started on the front foot and were quickly ahead through two early goals from Lizzie, both ably assisted by Jess.
The midfield trio of Alice, Caitlin and Ottilie were all excellent, constantly looking for the incisive pass. There were a number of Wotton attacks but these were repelled by the defence quite comfortably, with Molly and Olivia especially able to drive forward effectively when in transition.
Ottile scored the important third goal just before half time, beating Wotton's excellent goalkeeper with a precise shot. Ciren made the game safe early in the second half when Caitlin surged through the middle of the pitch, driving home decisively. After that chances for the team came and went although credit to Wotton who never threw in the towel at any stage.
Well played team - let's keep the season going!
